Solana Mobile has introduced a new ratings and reviews feature for its Saga dApp store. This feature allows users to share their feedback and opinions on their favorite decentralized applications (dApps) directly on their Solana mobile devices. This move comes as Solana Mobile aims to foster a more engaging and transparent ecosystem for dApp developers and users.
At the recent Consensus conference, Solana co-founder Raj Gokal highlighted the challenges faced by developers in launching innovative dApps on traditional app stores like Apple's App Store and Google Play. He emphasized that many Crypto "killer apps" ideas never see the light of day due to these platforms' limitations and restrictions. Solana Mobile was conceived as a solution to this problem, providing a dedicated platform for dApps that may not fit the mold of traditional app stores.
Initially, Solana Mobile successfully engaged developers to create apps for its first 20,000 users, resulting in 50+ dApps being built for the Saga device. However, Solana Mobile recognized that this number was not sufficient to drive widespread adoption. With over 140,000 orders for its upcoming "Chapter Two" device, the platform has become significantly more attractive to developers. Raj revealed that there is now a long list of developers building dApps for the next-generation Solana Mobile device, expected to launch next year.
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko is also passionate about breaking the duopoly of Apple and Google's app stores. He pointed out that the mobile gaming industry generates $100 billion in annual spending, but the duopoly takes a 30% cut, hindering innovation and limiting the number of games produced. Yakovenko sees crypto and platforms like Solana Mobile as potential disruptors to this duopoly.
The combined orders for Solana Mobile's Chapter Two and the original Saga device have reached approximately 160,000, representing a substantial user base for dApp developers. The ratings and reviews feature will empower users to rate dApps on a scale and provide written reviews, enabling them to share their experiences and opinions with other users. This feedback loop is expected to not only help developers improve their dApps but also tailor them to the needs and preferences of the Solana Mobile community, making each user's voice a significant part of the dApp development process.
Solana Mobile's latest move demonstrates its commitment to fostering a thriving dApp ecosystem on its platform. By empowering users to share their feedback and providing developers with valuable insights, Solana Mobile is paving the way for a more dynamic and user-centric dApp experience on Solana mobile devices.
