Pump.science Catapults DeSci Back into Relevancy - When’s the Next Launch?
A Solana-based meme science experiment has breathed new life into the DeSci sector.

Decentralized Science, or DeSci, has returned to the forefront of crypto mindshare after suffering years of irrelevance.
The industry’s newfound interest in DeSci comes after two tokens launched by pump.science, a Solana-based meme science platform, collectively reached over $250M in market capitalization, netting early buyers outsized gains.
What is pump.science and when can eager ‘pump-scientists’ expect to see a new experiment?
What is pump.science?
pump.science is a Solana-based longevity prediction market allowing traders to speculate on the performance of ‘life-extending’ medical compounds. Tokens representing these medical compounds are launched via pump.fun. When tokens reach a certain market cap, pump.science experiments on the compound’s effectiveness.
Experiments are first performed on WormBot, an AI-powered robotic system developed by Ora Biomedical. After reaching higher market capitalizations, experiments begin on live test subjects like flies and mice.
pump.science claims that all collected data will be used to assist in life-extension research. Medical compound creators, or the playfully named ‘Drug Devs’, secure IP rights to their compound and can theoretically sell these rights to researchers in the future.
After its stealthy launch during Solana Breakpoint, the two tokens initially launched on pump.science, Rifampicin ($RIF) and Urolithin A ($URO) traded quietly for over a month with little to no attention from the wider market.
However, on November 16th, pump.science tokens found their way into prominence on social media. The Rifampicin token has witnessed over $300M in trading volume over the past three days, peaking at an all-time high market cap of $247M.
Fake Pump.Science Token Reaches $17M
With all eyes on pump.science, malicious actors inevitably began targeting the platform. When the pump.science UI began displaying a new token, $GLP, traders assumed it was the latest compound launched by the protocol.
$GLP exploded to a market capitalization of $17M within minutes before pump.science announced that the application had been compromised. According to the pump.science team, hackers found a vulnerability with the application’s API key permissions, allowing them to integrate their own tokens into the site’s UI.
While pump.science moved quickly to take down the site and implement a fix, disgruntled commentators have argued that the hack may have been an inside job. Pump.science has denied these accusations, stipulating that all official pump.science launches came from the same deployer and pump.fun profile.
DeSci Mindshare Explodes
Spurred on by former Binance founder Changpeng Zhou’s post and the rapid success of pump.science tokens, DeSci has re-emerged as a promising sector in the crypto industry.
According to Kaito AI data, DeSci has become one of social media’s most discussed topics, competing with DeFi in terms of mindshare.
Following the success of pump.science’s first two tokens, traders eagerly await the fresh launch of new compounds. While a hard date is yet to be confirmed, pump.science team members have implied that the next token will launch sometime in December.
